At the heart of the Clapton Square Conservation Area, Clapton Square was originally designed in the late Georgian era of 1816 by wealthy Londoners seeking privacy and solitude outside of the City of London.

In 1969 the square was designated a conservation area, marking the area as ‘of notable architectural and historical interest.’ This status ensures preservation of the area and property within.

In modern times, the square still offers a historic village-like feel with all the benefits of modern day amenities. Many of the five storey houses still feature original leaded fanlights above the doors, pilasters and roof cornicing. Their sash windows, ornamental cast-iron balconies, six panelled doors, columns and porches make them easily as impressive as any Grade II listed Georgian property in Central London.
